About us

Big Smith is a small kennel composed of 9 terriers who are all family members. We breed a limited number of puppies; concentrating on conformational excellence, loving temperament, superior intelligence, and natural hunting instincts. All of our breeding dogs are JRTCA registered, BAER tested, CERF tested annually, and have proven themselves winners in the show ring! Each puppy is raised in the house, with children and our other JRT's to ensure proper socialization. All puppies are covered by our health guarantee. Any sold as show/breeding prospects are guaranteed to be registerable with the JRTCA and to be free of hereditary and congenital defects at one year of age. All pets are sold with a spay/neuter contract.

We live on 150 acre farm. Our dogs regularly hunt the horse barn and surrounding fields. The adults rotate into the house for one on one time. They also get let out daily for excercise, playtime, and frequently follow us riding through the fields.

Home Sweet Home

Aura, my daughter, is my number one handler. As you can see she was started young and still loves the babies. She and her two brothers, Aaron, 19 and Adam, 17, are excellent at socializing our puppies. The pups are exposed to almost everything by 8 weeks of age. Aura also loves to show in conformation, agility, go-to-ground, and obedience.

Amy with Susy Parsons, a JRTCA Hunting Judge. It is always fun to take off to the fields with someone who loves to hunt. This is the best way to spend time with the dogs!

Doing Go-to-Ground at our first trial, Heartland '94. This was 'Donna's' first trial also. But at 5, she found out how fun the game of Go-to Ground can be! She won first place in her very first run! Even the March showers couldn't dampen the spirits that day.
